Comments Off on Wakeboarding at Riverfest, Limerick, Ireland

Arrived at Limerick to do some demos at Riverfest to discover a kicker with my name on it – literally! Then it floated off at midnight and we had to rescue it. Did some cool stuff at night with LED lighting too! There was a whopping crowd there – around 40,000 people apparently! Thanks to all the crew for a great weekend.

Fun little shred the other day. Freezing though! It’s been raining so much lately that all the docks are submerged. Caravans next! Haha. Would be class to grind the top of one of them…….

Ballyhass Oct 2015
What an extraordinary weekend at Ballyhass Lakes in Cork! It is such an exceptional place. The best people who just LOVE wakeboarding!
Delighted to take 1st in the Open Men’s Division for the comp and overall tour.
But the buzz I get off watching all the new people in the sport loving it, and kids who are ridiculously good at such a young age is class! Congrats guys! 😄😄
Plus I passed my Cable operators thingy which is sick cause I hate tests! Haha Cheers Scotty Broome for keeping me calm! Haha

Comments Off on Chill and Ride & Wake O’Stock

Didn’t get a chance to post for a while as I’ve been so busy! Unfortunately I just missed taking the title at Chill and Ride for a 4th year in a row so had to settle for 2nd place but it was an awesome event and thanks so much to Daniel and all the organisers. Then it was back to Ireland for the 2nd last comp of the season – Wake O’Stock at Lough Muckno. This was a really fun event too and I was stoked to take the title at it.

Demos & coaching

It’s been a busy two weeks travelling around Ireland doing demos, catching up with other riders and a little bit of coaching. I was up in Northern Ireland at Riverfest which is always a fun event to do demos at, then it was off down to Terryglass on the River Shannon to ride and hang out with the crowd there.

ballyhass coachingI also spent a weekend coaching at Ballyhass Cable and the banter is always brilliant there. Now I’m up in Cavan and Monaghan training for Chill and Ride which takes place this weekend in Germany. This comp is awesome and we have a good crew going out from Ireland. Fingers crossed to retain my title.Terryglass

Photo shoot in Cork

Just back from 5 days of great banter in the south of Ireland. We started off at the cable at Ballyhass – those guys are awesome! Early morning and late night shoots including finishing at 1am one morning… Then down to the club at Carrig for a couple more days of epic banter and boat riding. We raised €300 for the charity Aware too.

Comments Off on Wakeboarding Demos & Comp.

Hi all,

It’s been a busy week commuting between Drogheda and Dublin. The Irish Maritime Festival was held over three days in Drogheda and David Coates, Pete Stewart, Nicole Carroll and I did demos. Although the water was very choppy the weather was great and there were thousands of people there over the few days so it was brilliant to showcase the sport. On the Saturday I drove to Dublin to compete in the Pro division of Wakedock Grass Routes Tour. I’m not really a cable rider so I was stoked to take 2nd place. Irish team riders Aisling Deegan and Nicole Carroll took 1st and 2nd place at the comp. and both qualified for the Wakestock Rail Contest next month. Big congrats to them.

Comments Off on Wakeboarding film documentary

Hi everyone,

This year, one of my main projects is to create a 52 minute long film with film maker Jonny MacCann to go on Setanta. Monster Energy have already helped us out a lot, but the more funding we can get, the better the final product can be. Check it out on http://fundit.ie/project/david-ocaoimh-wake-to-wake or have a look at the video below. If you’re not in a position to help us, if you could like and share it on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/davidwakeocaoimh to help get the word out it would be amazing! Thanks a billion. Details

Nose Problems!

Finally, after six months of not being able to breathe properly due to ‘nose trouble’, I learnt that it’s all treatable without never ending nasal sprays where, even though my treatment is allowed under WADA rules, I have had to worry that the dosage I need might breach the urinary guideline levels for dope testing.! I visited an ENT consultant who has prescribed stuff (and advice!) that should clear up my rhinitis for once and for all. It’ll be great to be able to breathe again properly and not have to worry about catching my breath while I’m training. Thanks a million to Mark Rafferty!
